SEVEN REASONS WHY AMERICA DECIDED TO END DEMOCRACY AND MAKE TRUMP PRESIDENT AGAIN

1) White Supremacy: Ever since the nation’s founding, this lie had to be promulgated to justify the cruelty done to black people in the name of developing the nation’s economy. Since then, we’ve had civil wars and amendments to save America’s ideal and democracy from its tyranny. Two hundred and fifty years later, it still is the sickness that fuels the nation. Now, the founding father’s ideals of democracy, the rule of law, and the constitution to be the potential remedies for man’s imperfections and the worst of our human nature, are about to be destroyed because of a problem they created.

2) A majority of white women, again. As I’ve previously stated, this group has been the most unreliable group for democrats for decades, even though patriarchy has hindered their full potential and growth, even though many have benefited from the affirmative action movement of the 70’s and have seen their slow but steady integration into the highest rungs of power. Even though abortion rights may become a national ban and impact their daughters. Even though they’ve witnessed Trump and the Republican Party become more sexist and misogynistic, they still voted 52–54% for Trump and Republican candidates. The fall back to white identity becomes too strong to fight against.

3) Latino Americans: We are seeing an alignment with the Republican Party because of assimilation, and this generation is learning the lessons of how whiteness and anti-blackness work in this country. Also, the appeal to machismo and strongman personalities works well in many of these communities.

4) Media: One of the biggest tragedies of the Trump era has been the normalization of his awfulness, corruption, criminality, misogyny, racism, sexism, xenophobia, and violence. The man ended his campaign by rubbing a microphone as if a person was giving a blow job to someone, and it never became a huge story. The presidency has been devalued to levels that America will never be able to recover from. There will be no floor to what a candidate can be or do and still have a chance to become president. The double standard on democrats and the expectations that run narratives will continue to hurt and haunt democrats in this unfair media. And in general, the media has become more right-wing and will make it harder to fight for our democracy.

5) Department of Justice (DOJ), the fact that they didn’t immediately begin the process to charge Trump and his Republican enablers for his coup and insurrection attempt to overthrow democracy, it emboldened more lawlessness and no fear of accountability. Trump and his coconspirators walking the streets free is how democracies die and how authoritarian governments emerge. DOJ cowardice is unrecoverable for the nation.

6) White Democrats Leadership: Democrats continued refusal to address and confront whiteness has cost them dearly and has put our country on the brink of authoritarian rule. Trump’s campaign was run on racism, misogyny, xenophobia, resentment, grievance, and retribution. Democrats continue to believe by doing things that benefit all Americans, including white Americans, that white Americans will choose them because of it. Republicans win the white vote because they make them feel that thinking you're white is the highest honor one could have in a multiracial society. Republicans understand if people are judged as human beings, people like Trump could never become president. But if you see Trump through the lens of being white and in relation to others, then character and human decency take a backseat to whiteness. Democracy takes a backseat, the rule of law takes a backseat, and accountability for your criminal actions takes a backseat. White democrats need to talk to white Americans about this issue head-on. If not, democrats will become the permanent minority party in a fascist America.

7) Black woman becoming president was too much for too many. Kamala is a brilliant and accomplished woman. She was one of the most qualified candidates we’ve ever had. But in a nation of patriarchy, racism, and sexism, it was too much to overcome.

I am enormously sad, angry, disappointed, and somewhat not surprised. The fight to save the nation from the worst Americans running it got harder. Millions of Americans on varying degrees and levels are about to experience authoritarian actions and cruelty in politics and policy. State-sponsored violence on vulnerable and marginalized communities. More rights were taken away from Americans, and a normality of brazen racists and white nationalists on TV, social media, and other platforms with access to millions of Americans. Colleges and Universities will be under attack on another level because authoritarian regimes always go after the universities first, then the media and journalists that try to hold them accountable. More brazen racist white Americans are going after non-whites with violence, as Trump has encouraged his supporters to do. The world is watching in horror and sadness that America is what it is. Trump 2.0 proves his staying power and the ugliness in America that he represents. The country of Ukraine are about to take a significant blow to its fight for sovereignty as Trump is an autocrat and will help and support Putin. NATO is in serious trouble because Trump is back in power.

God won’t help us right now. We asked for what’s coming. Damn it.
